Psychology Associate Description
Emerald City Services is seeking a creative behavior specialist ( Psychology Associate ) interested in joining a tight-knit dynamic team of professionals whose mission is ensuring our clients have the supports they need to live healthy, safe and inclusive lives in our community. This is an opportunity to help the patients discharging from the state hospital transition in the community.
We serve 16 residents who live on premises for 2-10 years.
You will be our subject matter expert in psychology, positive behavioral supports, differential diagnosis, clinical problem solving and clinical and psychometric assessment. Assist in developing and maintaining resources that address emergent and chronic needs of our clients who experience cognitive or intellectual disabilities along with challenging behavior and mental illness.
Some of what you will do…
• Conduct and write Functional Behavioral Assessments: Pr-admission, Initial, and every 180 days.
• Write positive behavior support plans (PBSP) for implementation by our staff – pre-admission, initial, and every 180 days.
• Write and review Cross System Crisis Plans (CSCP), and determine the need for and conduct psychological evaluations and assessments
• Train our management staff and nursing staff in positive behavior support principles and techniques, therapeutic options, and community protection policy
• Assist in building system capacity and competency of our staff working successfully with clients exhibiting challenging behaviors
• Consult with our staff on prevention and intervention for individuals with complex and serious behavior issues
• Collaborate with DSHS, and mental health providers in the treatment planning, Patient Centered Behavioral Service Plan development and discharge planning.
• Understand and interpret our mission, program policies and procedures, Washington Administrative Code to staff, clients, families, service providers and other interested groups
• Participate in work groups and task forces as assigned, involving planning, policy development, system development and clinically-related administrate policy areas
What we are looking for…
• Behavioral Specialist with a Master’s degree in psychology and 2 years of professional experience working with individuals with mental health illness.
• Experience with positive behavior support principles and treatment strategies for individuals with mental illness and/or challenging behaviors
• Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or license is required
• Working knowledge of treating individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
• Demonstrated abilities to write, implement and monitor functional assessments and positive behavior support plans
• Techniques for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of individual treatment plans
• Enjoy training staff
